The ceremony was also joined by Recognized Spiders Satch Molinsk and Malcat. The latter arrived late, however he was not (much to his relief) required to hike all the way to the top of the bridge.

There has been an interesting development since the last time we held our Ritual at eXit-38. As you can see from the picture on the right, there was formerly no railing on the bridge, which made sacrificing pumpkins from the bridge especially exciting, particularly for those people who have a fear of heights. In the past there has been a fair amount of confusion during the ceremony, caused by the extreme height of the bridge, combined with the fact that there are no railings. The ease with which something (or someone) could fall off the bridge has been truly frightening, and people with a fear of heights have been even more frightened by this significant lack.

At some time since the last Ritual Sacrifice was held at eXit-38 (two years ago), apparently someone came in and put in nice, heavy-duty chain-link-style

railings, which, while they prevent the close access to the edge that made the sacrifice such an exciting event, they also provide a fairly large degree of security for those who have a fear of heights. Even George Revolgurd, who has an intense fear of heights was able to get close enough to the edge to sacrifice his pumpkin comfortably.

The presence of the new railing on the bridge proved to be a slight challenge, as it is tall enough that taking pictures close to the edge requires some interesting leaning abilities for short people, however, in general, the railing will very likely be a source of a good deal of security for future Rituals, and it is hoped that, now that there are railings on the bridge, we might be able to coerce more people into attending.
